In its 47th Anniversary, UGM Faculty of Psychology launched a new book entitled Psychology for the Public Welfare.

The entire writing in this book is the work of lecturers of Faculty of Psychology. The editors are Faturochman, Tri Hayuning Tyas, Wenty Marina, and Galang Lufityanto. "Not only that it has to develop, science should also be useful. Psychology is a science that develops quite quickly. The development is not only inward, also the utilization of psychology in Indonesia is getting bigger," said Dean, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A., in the foreword of the book.

Faturochman recognizes that not all of psychology utilization is well-documented. Therefore, this book seeks to identify some utilization that had been developed in the community. Thus, the community is expected to better understand psychology as one of the science disciplines and its potential utilization. "Surely, there are many more uses of psychology. Here, concerns of the authors are presented in this book," he said.

The 332 pages book is the work of Faculty of Psychology educators in educating, conducting research and community service. They are very challenged by the demands of society to contribute more factually. Various forms of struggle in the academic world and public life were expressed in the quite varied writings. "As a book, a large variation can actually weaken the focus of the book. On the other hand, this would indicate the extent of role of psychology and real efforts that have been made by the institution where they work," he said.

The launching was held on the first floor of Faculty of Psychology on Monday (9/1). Symbolically, this book is distributed to invited guests who attended the  celebration of the 47th Anniversary of Faculty of Psychology.
