Today, probably not many women who wanted to dedicate himself as a scientific researcher of Science. Serious, complicated, and convoluted imagined when he heard the scientific field is still largely dominated by the adam it. However, in contrast to Yosmina Tapilatu Helena (34), young researchers UPT Marine Life Conservation Center (BKBL) Ambon, Indonesia Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Women born in Ternate, August 17, 1977, it is one of the women researchers who excel in Indonesia. There was no impression of complicated or convoluted. Professional researchers, said Yosmina, is a pretty fun job. "Research is a profession that fun because you can know what the crowd does not know. Will be many new things you'll find," said Yosmina in Jakarta, Friday (10/21/2011). According Yosmina, the researcher is an option. Women graduates of the University of Aix-Marseille II, France, Environmental and Marine Science majors this rate, do some research it would be nice if you have a strong awareness of the importance of science. "The awareness that needs to be done now. The researcher is not an intimidating us constantly. In fact, with a female researcher, you will be able to contribute much, like men of other researchers," he said. However, Yosmina admit, indeed the current number of female researchers in Indonesia is still minimal. Data UPT BKBL Ambon, he said, showed, since 1990 till 1999, has 120 researchers and 22 associate researchers. "And, now there are only 25 researchers, mostly young male researchers, only a few women in the Unit's researchers," he said. However, Yosmina optimistic, women researchers will rapidly develop in Indonesia. According to him, currently the most important is the number of facilities to support women who wish to pursue a career as a researcher is further enhanced. "Because, interest in this direction has been quite a lot. Just need a lot of programs just to accommodate the aspirations of the women who wish to pursue a career in this field in order to become a place to channel interest in this research field," said Yosmina Researchers marine bacteria Yosmina recounts, areas of research interest in Science when he realized the wealth of Maluku sea. Began studying at the University of Pattimura Department of Marine Sciences in 2001, Yosmina conscious, with an area of ??93 percent of the total area of ??the province, Maluku sea of ??storing wealth geological potential is large enough. Armed with this awareness, Yosmina managed to become one of the winners of L'Oreal Indonesia National Fellowship for Women in Science 2011 for the Life Science category, with the title research "Hunting Eksopolisakarida Producing Bacteria in the waters of the Sea In the Moluccas". "If the common view, there is indeed harmful bacteria and also of course there are beneficial bacteria. In the waters of the Moluccas, we find a lot of bacteria that are beneficial to human life," he said. Yosmina explains, some marine bacteria can produce eksopolisakarida (ESP) as a strategy for survival in the physico-chemical conditions found in their habitat. According to him, EPS produced by marine bacteria has many advantages. "Eksopolisakarida is a carbohydrate polymer that can be used in the cosmetic industry, pharmaceutical, food, and bioremediation, or later can also be made as environmentally friendly plastic," he said. Yosmina explained, the research aims to isolate and identify marine bacteria producing EPS excellence in marine waters in Maluku. According to him, exploratory research sources EPS in Indonesia have not been reviewing a lot of marine bacteria optimally. "This research is still continuing. And, we expect the results of this study could open new opportunities for the utilization of polysaccharides in a tropical marine bacterium on a number of industrial applications in Indonesia," he said. |
